Light-up Lumiere from World of Disney
8 August, 2014
On a recent trip to World of Disney in Downtown Disney Orlando I discovered the coolest Lumiere I’ve seen in a long time. For those of you that don’t know, I’m a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast. It’s the best Disney animated movie ever made. (I know, I know, not everyone agrees.) Needless to say, I was so excited about this find.
The light-up Lumiere isn’t cheap… he’s 49.95! The talking candlestick figure has LED flame lights and is a matte gold finish. He’s roughly a foot tall. If you can’t get to World of Disney at Disney World or Disneyland, he is available at DisneyStore.com.
He appeared to be really well made and nice enough to add to a collection. I must say, this Lumiere is super cool and a must-have for Beauty and the Beast fans.

We saw the Lumiere in Animal Kingdom, and loved it. Found one still in the box, which was nice to protect it on the way home – I imagine it can easily be broken. Turned it on and let it flicker for a couple days. I was hoping the three AAA batteries would last longer. But it began to dim. So I dug out a 4.5vdc power supply from an older cell phone and soldered some thin washers on the ends that I could insert them at the right spots in the battery compartment. rather than drill a hole in the side for the cord, I added a slot in the battery cover, and then added an extra layer of felt on the bottom some the cord could come out the bottom. Now mine is AC powered, with battery back-up. 🙂
