New truffles, cupcakes and sweet treats for the Disneyland Diamond Celebration
To commemorate the 60th Anniversary Diamond Anniversary, Disneyland will have a bevy of beautiful treats lined up. Satisfying your sweet tooth at the Happiest Place on Earth will be easier than ever with the introduction of new cupcakes, truffles, and other sugary delights. Some are best eaten at the parks, while others you can bring home to remember the good times.
In our previous article “Special 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration food announced for Disneyland,” I had mentioned that a pair of cupcakes were being introduced. The first flavor was lemon, which is available at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. An orange flavored version can be found at Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Café. The reason I bring this up again is due to the fact that the descriptions provided by the Disney Parks Blog were way oversimplified at the time.
According to Nancy Luna of the Orange County Register, the lemon cupcake at Jolly Holiday has strawberry filling with a champagne mousse top. I had speculated that it was likely buttercream frosting, for which I am gladly wrong. Anyhow, she states that it has a “crazy-good strawberry filled center.” She also notes that the pastry chef “used flavor profiles popular in the 1950s to inspire” this cupcake.
At Disney California Adventure park, the orange cupcake is much more complex than previously thought as well. Nancy points out that this version has a mixed berry filing with cream cheese Bavarian mousse. It’s topped with chocolate pearls and a white chocolate diamond emblem. Not sure about you, but I’m definitely trying one of these bad boys on my next visit.
Also, speaking of cupcakes, I noticed that Candy Palace and Trolley Treats had special chocolate and vanilla versions for the 24-hour kickoff event that took place May 22-23. I’m not sure if these were only available for that specific period or if they plan on having them for the entire 60th Anniversary. In any case, they sure were cute.
There are also a number of other sweet treats at Candy Palace, Trolley Treats, and Pooh Corner in Critter Country. Diamond Celebration themed confectionaries were showcased at each of these locations. The list includes marshmallows on a stick, cake pops, and krispy treats. There’s enough sugar to keep you amped up for an entire day.
Loads of packaged goodies are now ready for you to take home and celebrate your time at the original Magic Kingdom. Super-sized lollipops, candy bars, and even toffee pretzels adorn the shelves of shops around the entire resort. The latter item seemed especially intriguing to me since I’ve never tried it before.
Those of you in search of an elegant gift (or self-indulgent treat) can rejoice. There is a trio of chocolatey delights available in a stylish box set. It includes a mixture of truffles, bark, and candies. The boxes are decorated blue and silver in honor of the Diamond Celebration. The total weight of this collection is almost a pound.
There is also a “lighter” version that comes in a diamond-shaped box as well. This contains truffles only. The box is wrapped in a luxurious looking blue wrap with a large bow atop. As you can see by the picture, the truffle flavors are numerous.
If you happen to dine at select eateries, you can also get special truffles themed to each restaurant. Here is a complete list (per the Disney Parks Blog):

It seems no matter where you go inside the Disneyland Resort, there is a sweet treat ready to eat. The variety of items is truly outstanding. It seems that Disney understands how food is an integral part of a proper celebration. So, next time you visit, be sure to check out what’s available and maybe take home a souvenir you can actually eat!
