Review: Supercalifragilistic Breakfast
The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is a character buffet at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The current characters that appear are Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger; however, character appearances are subject to change. Although I have not seen it advertised as such, I consider this the literary characters meal.
Ambiance
When we arrived, we checked in at the podium, then I was shown where the stroller parking was located, and then my family and I were escorted to have our picture taken in front of a backdrop of Cinderella’s Castle.
Want an insider secret? Try to make your reservation around when the restaurant opens at 8:00 am. Arrive at least 15 minutes early. One lucky child will be selected to help open the restaurant! I’m not sure who was more excited when my 11 year old stepdaughter was selected: me or her! I don’t believe there is any special way they choose which child opens the restaurant. In our case, I think the cast members felt sorry for big sister when my two year old a meltdown.
When it is time for the restaurant to open, the child of honor stands in front of the doors with the cast members and says the magic word. Of course, that word is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! My stepdaughter had a difficult time saying it and had to have the cast members help her. The poor child was so nervous! She has stage fright and hates talking in front of groups of people, but she was also very excited to be chosen. Once the magic words were said, the doors were opened and Mary Poppins came out and greeted the guests. Mary Poppins was very prim and proper, just as you would expect her to be. She then took my stepdaughter by the arm and let our family to our table. Later my stepdaughter was given a certificate, a placemat, and a light up Tinkerbell clip for her special day at 1900 Park Fare. Thankfully, the cast members gave my two year old a placemat and light up Tinkerbell as well.
The characters began to make their appearances about 15 minutes after we were seated. First was Winnie the Pooh, who was very sweet and gave my two year old extra hugs. Next was Tigger, who seemed a little rushed. Mary Poppins returned then and spent a few extra minutes talking to my stepdaughter. Mary Poppins also thanked her for helping open the restaurant and reminded my children of the importance of good manners. I wish I had that on video to show to my two year old on repeat. Mary Poppins was followed by Alice, who was very bubbly and charming. Lastly was the Mad Hatter. He was the family favorite of the day. The Mad Hatter was very silly and entertaining! All five characters came to our table within an hour. Arriving when the restaurant opened certainly made a difference in how fast our character interaction was!

Menu
This is a table service restaurant. The food at the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is mostly typical breakfast buffet food such as Mickey waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, pastries, French toast, sausage bacon, and eggs. However, there are a few foods that you will want to make sure you don’t miss: lobster eggs benedict, smoked salmon, and the famous chilled strawberry soup! When I first heard about the strawberry soup I thought it sounded a little strange, but it was actually very good! It is almost like a thin, flavorful strawberry yogurt.
Food and Drink
Since this was a breakfast buffet, we sampled a little bit of everything! The smoked salmon was flaky and moist. The lobster eggs benedict was absolutely amazing. The chilled strawberry soup was a surprising new favorite. Of course, there are classic favorites too. You can’t go wrong with a Mickey waffle and fresh fruit! 1900 Park Fare also offers a passion fruit punch, which is exclusive to the restaurant. It was unique and surprisingly good.
Service
The service was excellent at the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast. Our server kept our juice and coffee cups full. She offered suggestions at the buffet and even made sure to point out that we were receiving a copy of the chilled strawberry soup recipe with our photo package. Our server was friendly and helpful, as true with most Disney staff members!
Overall
The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast overall was one of my family’s favorites. The fact that my stepdaughter was selected to open the restaurant was a magical sprinkling of pixie dust that made the last day of our vacation extra special. The food was some of the best that we had at breakfast as well. This is one restaurant my girls still talk about to this day and ask when we are going back!
