Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue is closing
One of our favorite places to eat at Disneyland is Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue. The restaurant is closing to make room for the recently announced Star Wars Land.
At the D23 Expo, it was announced that Star Wars would be coming to both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World. A couple days later it was announced that Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, the petting zoo and area for private events would be leaving the park to make room for the Star Wars section to be added.
If you’ve ever been to Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, you know this place is fun for everyone. It serves barbecue favorites, such as ranch beans, coleslaw, barbecue chicken and ribs, cornbread, and at dinner, smoked sausage and corn cob wheels. While enjoying the food, a country-western duo performs country favorites and entertains the crowd.
We’ve been to this establishment a few times and are sad to see it go. If you haven’t been, it’s worth visiting before it’s gone. For those of you that love this place, you better visit one last time before it says farewell.

This makes me incredibly sad! I eat there on many special occasions. This was my birthday tradition. If only there was a way to open up a new Thunder Ranch dining spot somewhere else in the park. . .

Mark, we hope that they relocate it somewhere. It’s a great restaurant.
