Epcot Flower and Garden Festival: Florida Fresh
Florida Fresh is back again at the 2015 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival! The Outdoor Kitchen highlights the local Florida produce and features four of the states breweries.
Florida Fresh
The shrimp with stone ground grits with Andouille sausage, sweet corn, tomatoes and cilantro was back on the menu again this year. It’s one of our favorite dishes. It’s slightly spicy, but not too much. The shrimps are huge and perfectly cooked.
The watermelon salad with pickled onions, B&W Gourmet Farms baby arugula, feta cheese and balsamic reduction also reappeared on the menu. The dish is another favorite of ours that has carried over from the debut of the Outdoor Kitchens. The dish is really light and refreshing.
For those with a gluten intolerance, both of these dishes are gluten-free.
We are big fans of the beer flights at the festivals. It’s a great way to experience new beers! This year’s flight included Orlando Brewing Company Blonde Ale, 3 Daughters Brewing Channel Marker Red Ale (NEW), Florida Brewing Company Field of Flowers Farmhouse Ale and Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai (NEW).
We always enjoy  Orlando Brewing Company’s Blonde Ale. It’s just an easy to drink, light ale, and you can’t go wrong with it on a hot Florida day. The Field of Flowers, which is a festival exclusive, was our least favorite. We just find it to be too floral for us. If you like IPAs, then you must try Jai Alai. It’s not too hoppy. We also really enjoyed the Channel Marker. For those that like red ales, make sure you stop and try this one.
Florida Fresh also has two boards up with information on some of the produce. You can read about watermelon, blueberries, tomatoes and sweet corn.
