France at the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival
Year after year, France is one of the most popular booths. This year, is no different. We sampled every bit of food from France at the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival!
The France booth is located in its usual location at the France Pavilion. This year, the majority of the menu items are new. Only one of items has been offered in previous years.
This year the Escargots Persillade en Brioche has been replaced by the tartelette aux escargots. It’s a tart filled with escargot, garlic, spinach and parmesan; then topped with crispy bacon crumbles. It sounds fantastic, but were were disappointed in this dish. The escargot dishes offered in the past were so much better. You hardly noticed the escargot… maybe that was the point. We do hope to see the return of the Escargots Persillade en Brioche.
If you love cheese, you have to get the gratin de crozet de savoie. It’s very cheesy, as you can see. The mushrooms add a nice flavor to the dish without having a strong mushroom flavor. Even those who don’t like mushrooms, but love cheese, will enjoy this dish. We definitely could have had seconds of this dish!
We had to try the recommended pairing – boeuf bourguignon and Château Bonnet Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a perfect pairing because you can really taste the flavor of the cabernet that the beef was cooked in. It’s the only item that is returning from previous years and if you’ve had it, you know why. The dish is delicious! The meat just falls apart.
The crème brûlée caramel fleur de sel had a strong taste of caramel. It’s perfect for those who like crème brûlée and love caramel.
Some of the booths around the World Showcase feature recipes and tips like this one in France. It has a recipe for Ratatouille and a tip on why to try the Tartelette aux Escargots… it’s a good source of antioxidants.
