Review: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café is wildest restaurant on the Frontier!
This classic quick-service restaurant is nestled between Adventureland and Frontierland. Guests are treated to American fare like hamburgers and salads, making this a fan favorite.
When entering on the Frontierland side you may often see a Cast Member, like Blake, greeting you with Pecos Bill.
There are two different options (most of the time) for ordering your food – express automated ordering or cashier. The express ordering is very simple. Here’s how it works:
- Please Select A Dining Plan: No Meal Plan, Quick Service Meal, Snack Plan, Deluxe Plan, Premium Plan or Platinum Plan
- Please Choose Your Payment Method: Credit Card, Key to the World, Disney Gift Card or Disney Rewards Redemption Card
- Please Select An Entree (you’ll see all of the available options)
- Please Select A Side Item (you’ll see all of the available options)
- Would You Like To Make It A Large For 30 cents More?: Yes or No
It’s that easy! It’s  not always available but it’s really convenient when it is.
Ambiance
From the outside you’ll notice there are two very different facades – one which looks like a saloon in the Old West (on the Frontierland side) and the other, a casita (on the Adventureland side). This theming is carried on throughout the inside of the dining room as well. Depending on which area you are in you’ll see different decor.
The restaurant offers an abundance of seating! There are several dining rooms and outdoor seating locations. The dining rooms on the Frontierland side are very rustic with wooden tables and chairs, wrought-iron chandeliers and the Code of the West. Make sure you follow the Code! The dining rooms on the Adventureland side have a Caribbean feel with cobblestone, stucco and flowers. They even connect to Tortuga Tavern across from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Food
The taco salad comes pretty empty. It’s the shell with the seasoned ground beef and a side of sour cream. That’s it!
But here comes the fun part – filling it up. The toppings bar is full of so many tasty items to put in your taco shell. Of course you have your staples – lettuce, tomato and cheese. However, there are so many more items you can add! Banana peppers, pickles, salsa, liquid cheese, sauteéd onions and sauteéd mushrooms are also available. Of course, mustard, ketchup and mayo are on hand in dispensers for your burgers.
If you grab a salad up at Tortuga Tavern, you’ll have to come down to Pecos Bill to get salad dressing. For one reason or another salad dressing isn’t offered up in Tortuga.
This ooey gooey cheese sauce is so good. Maybe it’s not “real” cheese, but none-the-less it’s good. We like to use it for more than just burgers, it’s good on taco salads too.
Service
For a quick-service restaurant the service is pretty good. The cashiers and counter service staff work quickly to get your order in and to you. This is very important considering the high traffic volume this restaurant sees. They work quickly to clean tables off once people have left for new guests arriving.
Overall
Pecos Bill offers decent quick-service with a large selection of toppings. There is plenty of seating making it one of the best choices for dining during busy hours or with a large group. It’s a great choice for families who have picky eaters or are looking for standard theme park fare.
