New menu items at Biergarten Restaurant and Sommerfest
Biergarten Restaurant and Sommfest located in the Germany pavilion at Epcot are getting new menu items!
On September 1, Sommerfest will have some new and unique menu items. Guests will now be able to enjoy a currywurst, sliced sausage topped with housemade curry ketchup and served with freshly made paprika potato chips; leberkaese (German meatloaf) Reuben with sauerkraut and Swiss; and nudel gratin.
Biergarten Restaurant will see the addition of seasonal vegetables, fruits and soups to the buffet. These were added to lighten the fare and add some healthy dining options to the more hearty buffet lineup. At Biergarten, Chef Wade Camerer featured asparagus soup this summer. He told Pam Brandon of Disney Parks Blog that this fall it may be mushroom bisque. Vegetables will be carrots, parsnips and Swiss chard. There will also be an addition of a cheese course feature German cheeses (of course), pretzel bread croutons and smoked meats. For the kids, Chicken Fricassee – chicken, mushrooms and peas in a creamy sauce over rice, has been added to the menu. It’s German comfort food!
For those wondering how authentic the menu items at Biergarten Restaurant and Sommerfest are… Epcot Executive Chef Jens Dahlmann is from Germany as well as the sous chef Hans Groeger. So with two great German chefs, you know you’re getting some good, authentic German food!
All of this sounds so good and we can’t wait to try it!
