Review: Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar sits on the water in The Landing at Disney Springs. It’s an old hangar that Jock Lindsey, Indiana Jones’ pilot, owns and operates. Here you’ll enjoy delicious small plates, refreshing cocktails and a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere.
Ambiance
The Hangar Bar is a small, quaint bar overlooking the water in Disney Springs. Inside, you’ll find a well-themed lounge full of Jock Lindsey’s memorabilia, a bar some tables.
There are tons of unique pieces of “memorabilia” that Jock Lindsey has decorated his bar with. There are even some correspondences from his travels posted around the bar.
Outside there is a patio that overlook the water, an old boat named Reggie (after his pet snake) that has been transformed into a place to dine and a large outdoor bar.
Menu
The menu includes wines, beers, sake, and signature libations (including some non-alcoholic ones). Select cocktails are served in unique glasses that you can purchase as a souvenir. And we did! Each section of the menu is set up by regions that Jock Lindsey visited during his excursions with Indy.
For those looking for a bite, the menu offers appetizers. We picked a few and had them as our meal. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar food menu includes the following:
- Good Dates – Goat cheese-stuffed dates served with Marcona almonds and pickled vegetables 9
- Rolling Boulders Sliders – Three spicy meatball sliders served with yogurt sauce 11.50
- Snack of Ra – African salads and dips with Injera and Naan crisps 12
- Air Pirate’s Pretzels – A flight of everything pretzels with house-made mustard and beer-cheese fondue 10.50
- Tanis Tacos – Tacos filled with falafel, shredded lettuce and cucumber-tomato salad
- Elsa’s Shrimp BLT Flatbread – Chermoula-spiced shrimp, Nueske’s bacon, arugula, roasted tomatoes, and basil pesto 16
- Brody’s Brats – Grilled bratwurst served with mustard and pickled cabbage 8.50
- Lao Che’s Revenge – Spicy Asian sticky wings
- “Squid! Why’d it have to be Squid?” – Fried calamari with harissa aioli 12.50
Food and Drink
On our first trip, we tried the Cool-Headed Monkey – Staarr African rum, Van Der Hum tangerine liqueur, fresh lime juice, watermelon and pineapple juice; The Bitter Barkeep – Barsol Quebranta pisco, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and pasteurized egg whites; and the beer flight – Kingfisher Lager (India), Paulaner Hefe-Weizen (Germany) and Orlando Brewing I-4 IPA (Orlando, FL).
All the beers in the flight were great. My favorite – Kingfisher Lager from India. It was light and very easy to drink.
The Cool-Headed Monkey was awesome! It was sweet, but not as sweet as it sounds. The lime juice mellows out the sweetness of the watermelon and pineapple juice.
On our second trip, we had The Bitter Barkeep and Fountain of Youth. The Bitter Barkeep was slight sweet and slightly sour. It’s a great choice for those who like margaritas, mojitos, and sidecars.
The Fountain of Youth is St. Augustine Florida Cane Vodka, Bols Blue Curaçao, White Cranberry Juice, and Sweet-and-Sour. For those that like just a little bit of sour to their drinks, but prefer them to mostly be on the sweet side, this drinks a great choice.
Even though we didn’t Reggie’s Revenge – Florida Cane ‘Orlando Orange’ vodka, Midori melon liqueur, white cranberry juice, and sweet –and-sour, we can say that it was very popular. Other guests were highly recommending it.
We almost ordered four appetizers for the two of us, but our server suggested that we go with three and if we were still hungry to order the forth. We ordered the Rolling Boulders Sliders, Snack of Ra and Brody’s Brats.
Everything we had was really good. The Rolling Boulders Sliders were good size. The yogurt sauce was a nice accompaniment to the dish. If you like meatballs, this is a dish you should definitely try.
The Snack of Ra was much larger than we had anticipated. The naan with the hummus was our favorite.
The grilled bratwurst served with mustard and pickled cabbage was my favorite. Brody’s Brats comes with several of the bratwurst sausages and the pickled cabbage went well with it. It was also served with house-made gherkin pickles, which were excellent – sour, but not too sour.
Service
Our server was great! Even though the bar was very busy, she made sure to check on us regularly to see if we needed anything… including that forth appetizer. We were really glad that she suggested that we wait to see, since we had more than enough food for two.
Overall
We really enjoyed everything that we tried. We’ll be going back and trying the rest of the menu. For guests who are looking for a good bite to eat, refreshing drinks and a fun, uniquely themed atmosphere, this is the place.
