The Weinkeller in the Germany pavilion at Epcot
One of our favorite places to visit in the World Showcase is the Germany pavilion. Not only can you get a great beer and pretzels, but great wine as well. Germany has been producing wines since 100 B.C. so it has a rich history of great winemaking. Riesling is the most popular and well known German wine but there are many others. At Weinkeller, which means wine cellar, you can try a glass of several German wines or purchase by the bottle to take home and enjoy.
Most of the year it’s pretty easy to grab a glass and table here. However, during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival this place is packed with people and there is always a line.
You can purchase wines by the glass or try the German wine flight. For 9.39 you can choose 3 wines to receive a 2 oz. pour of. Choose from 3 white wines: Gunderloch “Dive” Stätlese Riesling, Madonaa Liebfraumilch or Two Princess Riesling; Possmann Frankfurter Applewine; Gunderloch Beernauslese (dessert wine) or Schmitt Söhne Eiswein (ice wine). Germany is also part of the World Showcase Wine Walk which includes two wines from Germany, two wines from Italy and two wines from France. The glasses are plastic so you can walk around the World Showcase with them, you aren’t confined to the wine shop.
There are several types of wine that can be purchased to take home. If you are staying at one of the Disney resorts you don’t have to worry about carrying it around the park, just have it shipped back to your resort. For those that are staying off property, you can have it shipped to the front gate and pick it up on your way out.
Glühwein is a traditional mulled wine that is enjoyed hot during the winter months, especially during the Christmas season. You’ll find it throughout the German Christmas Markets, and everyone will be drinking it. One of the most famous and well-known Christmas market is the Nürnberger Markt and it has it’s own glühwein. You can pick up the traditional version of this drink at Weinkeller but there are many different flavors available at the Germany Christmas markets. This is typically only available during the fall and winter months.
Stroh Jagertee (hunter’s tea) is a spiced Austrian liqueur and is enjoyed hot. To be called Jagertee, the liqueur must come from Austria and have “inländer rum” as an ingredient. The liqueur is strong so you’ll mix 1 part Jagertee with 3 parts hot water.
Asbach is a German brandy that is produced in Rüdesheim am Rhein. The brandy is used to make the local drink Rüdesheimer kaffee and these delicious liqueur filled chocolates.
We love the Rieslings and Stätlese! How about you, what’s your favorite wine?

I’m sorry to hear about that. The best thing to do is to contact Guest Relations by emailing them at wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com.

They should be able to tell you what wines those are by sending them those name abbreviations and SKUs. The store should be able to locate those wines for you with that information.

I would love to purchase some Christmas Wine for the holidays but am not going to be in Florida before then. Is there a way to purchase the wine over the phone or via an internet site and have it shipped to Pennsylvania?

You’re best bet would be to contact Disney at Merchandise.Guest.Services@DisneyParks.com. They may be able to help you. I’m not sure if they can ship wines purchased over the phone or not. It’s always worth a try.

Hi Thomas! Do you remember the look of the label or maybe what letter the name of the wine started with? I couldn’t even give you a guess without knowing anything else about it. If you can give me a little bit more information I might be able to take a guess next time I’m in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot.
