Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto to open soon!
Disney World fans of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Hotel have been eagerly awaiting the opening of its sister location. The wait is almost over. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will open soon in Polynesian Village Resort!
As of yesterday, the lounge is in its soft opening. However, in late April, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will official open. The lounge, located off the main lobby, will have collectible mugs once its official open.
This location will have some of the same drinks and small plates, but a new menu has been created for the Grog Grotto.
The cocktails will be available tin collectible Tiki mugs, but they all won’t be the same as out in California. There will be new mugs available only at Disney World.
New drink cocktails available only at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto:
Polynesian Pearl
Nautilus
Castaway Crush
Tahitian Torch
Dark & Tropical Stormy
Cocktails from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar:
Krakatoa Punch
Uh-Oa!
HippopotoMai-Tai
Shrunken Zombie Head
Non-alcoholic beverages:
Schweitzer Fall
Skipper Sipper
Polynesian Punch
We must say, we are disappointed to not see two of our favorites listed – Shipwreck on the Rocks (Bourbon with freshly Muddled Lemon and Mint with Organic Agave Nectar) and Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum (Reserve Rum, Cream of Coconut and Pineapple and Orange Juices dusted with Cinnamon and Nutmeg). Yep! The name really has that many Tikis in it.
What’s on the menu? Two of our favorites from Enchanted Tiki Bar – chicken lettuce cups with hoisin ginger sauce and Hawaiian poke with Sriracha aioli and wonton chips, will be. New menu items include kalua pork tacos with shredded cabbage and pickled vegetables; pan-fried dumplings with soy-sesame dipping sauce; roasted chicken and pork pâté bánh mì sliders with pickled vegetables; salmon oshizushi (press sushi); corn-battered Portuguese sausages with curry ketchup and a Headhunter Sushi Roll.
If you’ve ever been to the lounge in the Disneyland Hotel, you know it’s small and that there is always a wait to get inside. So will this one be larger? Slightly! It has 50 seats inside and 82 on the patio. So, it’s still small. It will be first-come, first-serve so you may have to wait awhile to get inside.
The official opening date hasn’t been set, but once it is, we’ll let you know.
