Top Disney World food news stories of 2014
There was a lot of news coming out of Disney this year. The removal of the Sorcerer’s Hat in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the opening of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom and so much more. However, we’re going to talk about the top Disney World food news stories of 2014. Here’s a look!
Spice Road Table
In January, Spice Road Table opened along in the lagoon in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot. It features Mediterranean small plates. The restaurant has twice as much outdoor seating as it does inside, making it perfect for watching IllumiNations. It recently started accepting reservations.
The Smokehouse at House of Blues
Also in January, the House of Blues in Downtown Disney West Side opened a quick-service location that serves barbecue.
Pineapple Lanai
In August, Pineapple Lanai opened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It became the new location for enjoying a Dole Whip outside of Magic Kingdom. It’s previous location, Captain Cook’s also received a refurbishment with a new menu.
Exposition Park
Food trucks have official arrived at Disney World. Downtown Disney West Side is the home of the Disney food trucks. There is seating and nightly entertainment. The food truck park is open 4 pm to 11 pm Monday through Thursday and 3 pm to 11 pm Friday through Sunday.
Disney Springs
After years of Pleasure Island being closed and Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant and Paradiso 37 being the only places to dine, they’re getting company. It was announced that Morimoto Asia (named for the Iron Chef – Masaharu Morimoto), The BOATHOUSE and STK will be opening in early 2015.
Trattoria al Forno
At the end of September, we said goodbye to Kouzzina by Cat Cora. Last month, in its place at Disney’s BoardWalk opened Trattoria al Forno. It features authentic Italian flavors from various regions of Italy. The restaurant also serves breakfast, just like Kouzzina did. For those wondering, it does accept the Disney Dining Plan and Tables in Wonderland.
